Start By Believing Pledge

Supporting colleagues who are experiencing domestic violence is everyone's responsibility.

While this deeply personal crisis primarily unfolds within the confines of homes, its impact resonates beyond, often influencing the lives of employees within the workplace - the first place this private issue often goes public.

Domestic violence relies on social isolation. For many victims, work is often the only space where they aren’t under a watchful eye, and coworkers may be their only allies. By providing trainings and implementing comprehensive policies, we can ensure that victims have access to the resources they need to find freedom.

As Tarrant County's leader in domestic violence resources, SafeHaven is proud to present the Start by Believing Pledge as a vital resource to keep employees safe and help organizations understand this pervasive issue. Through this initiative, we have the opportunity to transform workplaces into safe havens of support, promoting peace and resilience for employees facing domestic violence.

8M

Victims of intimate partner violence lose a total of 8 million days of paid work each year, amounting to $8.3 billion in lost revenue, but 65% of employers said they do not have a plan for employees who experience domestic violence or when an employee is harassed at work.
